Today is a special day. It's my last day for my Growing in Unity week, it's 50% sales on UNITY and it's a Mixed Up Media Chix Art Journal blog hop! Let's start off with the hop!

Maria is the host of this blog hop and there are lots of blog candies + giveaways to win along the way. Just remember to leave a comment on every blog along the way.

If you have just came from Lisa's blog, you are on the right track! If not, you can start from the beginning of the hop here.

So, I've only recently started dabbling into the world of mixed media and art journals. It was pretty intimidating at first as it's like a blank canvas - what do I do? Tip for all newbies like me - do not be afraid! Take risks and go with what your heart tells you to. There is no right or wrong in art. Everybody has their own style so do not be afraid to try. Once you start, you may never want to stop! :)

I made a few pages using my favorite Unity stamps with lots of paint, mist, gelatos and colors!

I gesso-ed my pages as the base then misted it with some home-made mist (using acrylic paints + water). Then I made some flowers with some pages from a book and painted them in with some distress markers. I also added some crackle rock candy on the hearts to add texture.

Here's my other pages that I did.

And some close ups.

As you can see, art journal can be anything that you want! :) Just try and see. :)

Next up on the blog hop is beautiful Gwen.  Do go and send her some love!

***

Do you know that UNITY is having a 50% off the entire website? It's their 5th Birthday and lots of FREE goodies with every order!

I hope you have been inspired this whole week. Time to shop and stock up :) Remember to use the coupon code: UNITY5 for your discount.

It's Day 4 and my week of being the GIU girl is almost over! I must say that I AM really growing in Unity. Ever since I bought my first stamps from Unity in 2009 I have really changed the way I scrap and create.

Today I have an interesting project. I made this as a birthday gift!

I used an Ikea frame - painted it with some gesso and embellished it with Pink Paislee's Vintage Vogue collection.

And with every gift, there must be a card right? :) The card is also using the same collection.

I made the chalkboard effect with some white ink on black. The stamp is so pretty by itself don't you think?

My next card is for the girly girls.

You can never go wrong with pretty Prima flowers & butterflies. :) I added some liquid pearls to the center of each flower and some twine to give some added texture. I also created a Stickles border to add some bling.

And... Here's my final card of the week!
{Hint: Tomorrow I have an art journal to show!}

I created the marbleized background with some Tim Holtz distress paints. I stitched the border of the card with some embroidery thread and inked up the gorgeous butterfly tree with some Dusty Concord.

Do drop by tomorrow for a special art journal blog hop and more giveaways!!

It's Day 3 of Growing in Unity and if you are new here, welcome and do remember to leave a comment daily this whole week for a chance to win some Unity Itty Bitties and some scrappy goodies!

BTW it is Unity's birthday today! A HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Unity! Look out for the sales coming :)

Today I am coloring up my new Phyllis Harris stamps again and if you do not have them, you got to get them! They are just simply stunning! Here's my take on it.

Look how flowy her hair is? This stamp is large enough to be used for your art journals too. I added some glitter tape at the bottom to add some bling :)

Next up, a cute owl!

This owl is perfect for paper piecing and is oh-so-cute! Since I have plenty of washi tape in my stash, I created the borders and background with it along with some pearls and wood veneers (the stars are in my giveaway scrappy pack too!)

And since I love cuppie cakes, here's one more for those who love them too.

Now, it's time for a GIVEAWAY!
