Good Friday is the time to remember our Lord Jesus who died for us on the cross.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

A good day for a fun card! I thought of mixing up the colors and make fun rays with some distress ink. I added some sequins and glittered butterflies too.

Jesus is the reason for the season.

Happy Good Friday!

It is Earth Month and I thought what better way but to make a card made out from scraps & things that we usually throw away.

Want a pretty bow on your card but trims are expensive? How about making your own washi bow made out of toilet roll? Yes! Toilet roll. Here's the how-to.

1. Get a toilet roll and wrap it with your favorite washi tape

2. Use a sharp scissors and cut at your desired width

3. You will get something that looks like this (Piece A). Make two of these by repeating steps 1-2

4. After getting two of the above (from Step 3), take one of it and cut it in half to get this (Piece B).

5. Use the short piece (Piece B) that you have just cut and wrap it around the longer piece (Piece A) and glue it with some glossy accents or any strong adhesive that you have.

6. And finally, you will get your washi bow!

Another way to use up some scraps is to save those pretty packaging that comes with your scrappy products. I have used one of it as the background paper for my card and with the washi bow, it looks like any card made out of your normal stash.

Let's go green and save the Earth (and some money too!)  ;)

I'm sure all of us crafters have some baker's twine laying around in our stash. Have you ever thought of different ways to use them? Well, I did! Here's what I did with them.

I did a banner with some twine tassels! :)  It's pretty easy, quick and fun on any project. Wrap it around your fingers to a desired "thickness" then tie one end with some twine. At the other end (the bottom), cut the loops off and you have a tassel!

I then wrote the word "celebrate" with some stickles and ta-daa... I am done.

I am entering this card for the Twinery challenge #TT003.

Have some fun with your twine! :)

Gelatos by Faber Castell brings a whole new meaning to art. If you don't know what they are, they are like crayon but water soluble - so that when you add water to it, it becomes like paint. It's creamy and looks like a chapstick.

I only have 6 colors of Gelatos .. and will be buying more soon :) So, before the new colors arrive, I thought I'd show you (for those who are new to this product) some of the techniques you can use with Gelatos.

First up, I call this the water stain technique.

1. Choose a stamp of your choice and stamp it with archival ink (so that it will not leak when in contact with water)

2. Use the Gelatos and paint right onto your craft mat. If you do not have one, you can use an acrylic block.

3. Then mist it with some water. Here, it's up to you how much water you want to add. The more water, the less vibrant the colors will be.

4. Take your card and put it right on top of the misted Gelatos. If you think you need more color, simply repeat step 2 & step 3.

And here's my final card after adding a sentiment banner right on top. Don't you think the colors are just gorgeous? I used the metallic Gelatos and it has the glitter to it. If you don't have those, you can use some pearlescent spray instead of water when you are misting it up.

Next, is the coloring with Gelatos technique.

1. Choose your favorite stamp and ink it with some Archival ink
2. Next, just color with the Gelatos right onto your stamped image. If you want to blend the colors in, use your finger or a paintbrush. I find the finger works best.

3. Cut the images you just colored and add it to your card as embellishment. Easy peezy :)

As you can see, I added some dimensional pearls on the butterflies for that extra pop.

And the last technique is the watercoloring technique.

1. Choose your favorite stamp (Rubber stamps work best with this technique)
2. Spray some water onto your craft mat or acrylic block
3. Dab the Gelatos on to the water and color your stamp
4. Stamp the watercolored image onto your card

As you can see, these little sticks of paint gives you plenty to play with. There are many more techniques I could show you, so do come back for more upcoming tips with the Gelatos.

If you know me, I hardly ever do layouts. But ever since I had a 12x12 album - I started making some. Here's one I made inspired by this month's Unity {Be Inspired} challenge.

[Please click on the image for a larger view]

I had used Pink Paislee's mistable paper and inked it with some distress inks (spun sugar/milled lavender). Then I added flowers & pearls as the border. For the photo mat, I stamped the "Doily Decor" with dusty concorde. I then finished it off by adding some stamped butterflies (colored with malted milk ink) from the "Dream Big" set and the sentiment from "All about today" kit.

This is the sketch:

Have a happy week ahead!

This year I took memory keeping to a whole new level by making a huge commitment to scrap every week for one whole year. So far.. Absolutely NO regrets ! I love Project Life and how it helps us remember every little moment in our lives just by a small note or photo.

It has been 11 weeks into 2013 and so far I have been a very 'good gal' by doing it every week :) I find it fun just looking back on that week and choosing what to scrap about. Of coz there are weeks that I just do not have the mood for it or I am stuck.. But every time I'm done with it, it is satisfying!

How many of you are doing Project Life this year? Do share ;)

It's Friday again, and time to show you some cards I made! I started off being a mini-album gal and now, every week, I'm making some cards instead. I'd like to start making more layouts and other mixed media projects too. Look out for those soon ;)

This week, I challenged myself to make three very different cards - using different stamp sets, card sizes, techniques & theme. Also, since I couldn't choose my top 3 favorites for the DT Call - hosted by Jenn & Trish from the Sister Act Card Challenge .. I decided to make 3 new ones! :) It's my first ever application to be on a DT team and I'm elated but up for a challenge.

First up, a fly free card :)

I used my favorite butterfly stamp set "moment by moment" to create a pop on the clouds background. I have stamped the background in 2 ink tones and put some on foam adhesives. I also colored in the butterfly with some distress markers (my favorite at this moment!). Then I grounded the card with some washi at the top & bottom. The brads were added to the sentiment piece to add some texture & color.

My second card is a baby girl card.

I decided to do a square card for this, with a window & a frame popped up by some foam adhesive. I paper pieced the girl's dress and stamped the sentiment on a sticker with archival ink. I added some resin roses too coz those are just so pretty, don't you think? :)

And my final card is going for the distressed look.

I have had this set for quite some time and I finally had an idea on how to use it :) I used mainly distress inks and even distressed the edge of the paper. I was pretty happy with the outcome.

I know I should have been making a green card this week but oh well. Something different, eh?

Happy St Patrick's Day everybody! ;)

First of all, THANK YOU so much to everyone who had come and celebrated with me & friends for Julie's Blogoversary Blog Hop. It's amazing and very encouraging to know that so many of you had fun and loved the cards I made. First one done, many more hops to come? :)

So here's two cards I made - something for spring, where most of my crafty friends live (although it's summer all year round where I come from).

I used stamps from Pink Paislee - Indigo Blue stamp set and inked them with Ranger's archival ink - since I was coloring it & didn't want it to smear. I colored both cards with distress markers. The first card I decided to leave it on white, while the second card I inked the edges with some distress ink.

And yes, time for a winner!

The winner of the Blogoversary is ... Erin! Congrats Erin. You've won a bundle of crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl Jam. Thanks Julie for sponsoring the prize!

For the rest, if you'd like to know if you won something, go check out Julie's blog here.

This is my first time being a contributor in a blog hop and I was squealing with excitement when Julie asked me to join in the fun. *Yay*!! :) And I must be very very excited because I actually made not one but THREE cards for this hop! I have made many new friends ever since I started my scrappy hobby, so these are dedicated to all my new (and old) friends. Let's celebrate Friendship! :)
Here's my first card.

This can be a masculine card as it has quite a rustic feel to it. I love the vintage chair & sentiment from Unity's Dec 2011 KOTM. I inked it up with some Hero Arts shadow ink and painted it in with some distress markers.

Here's my second card - a more whimsical one.

I used some fun MLS paper as the background as it seemed fit for the stamped image from the same KOTM as above. I put some distress markers on my craft mat and used the Tim Holtz waterbrush to paint the image in. Love that you can do blending straight on the card. Then I framed the image with some yellow twine.

And my last and final card for the hop is my absolute favorite! :)

This would be perfect if you have plenty of scrap papers (which I'm sure all of you do). Just cut them into squares and they make a gorgeous background! :)

Thanks for visiting my blog. Do remember to leave a comment along the way as there are blog candy and prizes to be won. Now it's time to hop over to Miwa Lee's blog!

Happy Blogoversary Julie!
